Black Lives Matter Pasadena has repeatedly attempted to engage The CITY COUNCIL around issues of state violence and the patterns of abuse suffered by Black people in Northwest Pasadena.

 DEMANDS FOR THE MAYOR

1.  Defund and demilitarize the Pasadena Police Department Pasadena police department receives $91 million of Pasadena’s budget. 

2. Work in partnership with the Pasadena City Council to develop a reparations policy based loosely on the policy passed earlier this year in the City of Chicago which would provide financial, mental health, educational, and other resources to those who have been brutalized by the police and to the families of those who have been killed.

3. Fire and indict officers Matthew Griffin and Jeffery Newlen for the murder of Kendrec McDade Matthew Griffin badge # 3125 Jeffery Newlen badge # 6113

4. Elect a community police oversight board with the power to fire and hire rather than to campaign donors and political supporters.  Solicit, seriously consider, and respond to community nominations .

5. Officers must receive 1 year annual Psychiatric evaluation.  The oversight board will determine the psychiatrist. 

6. Invest in social programs for youth and young adults. 

7. Release all video footage of the murder of Reginald jr Thomas

8. Release the AUTOPSY REPORT FOR J. R.  THOMAS

9. Prosecute all officers involved in Reginald J. R Thomas murder.
